Hopscotch, First Friday lead our weekend best bets

RALEIGH, N.C. — You have probably heard that Hopscotch Music Festival starts Thursday and runs through Saturday in downtown Raleigh. Not only is Hopscotch Music Festival taking over downtown Raleigh, but it is also First Friday. Check out our First Friday guide for a list of restaurant deals and activities going on in connection with First Friday. Overall, it is just going to be an exciting weekend to be in downtown Raleigh.

North Hills will have The Johnny Folsom 4, a Johnny Cash Tribute band, on Friday night. The free show starts at 7 p.m. 

WRAL's Debra Morgan will be emceeing the Caring Community Foundation's 13th Annual Pay it Forward fundraiser on Saturday night at the Renaissance Raleigh Hotel in North Hills. The Caring Community Foundation is a local non-profit dedicated to helping Triangle-area cancer patients in need of financial assistance. The event is open to the public and will include food, an open bar of beer and wine, live entertainment by The Soul Psychedelique, dancing, raffles and a live and silent auction. Tickets are $75 in advance.

On Saturday evening, head to Durham for the 26th Annual Bull Durham Blues Festival. It is being held in the historic Hayti Heritage Center’s Performance Hall. Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 the day of.

Also in Durham, the Blue Man Group is playing the Durham Performing Arts Center Friday through Sunday. Tickets are on sale now. 

On Sunday, head to downtown Raleigh's Moore Square for La Fiesta del Pueblo - a Latino cultural festival  from noon to 5 p.m. Expect great music, art, performances and children's activities. Authentic Latino cuisine will also be for sale - we're talking empanadas, churros, paletas and more! In Wake Forest, the 18th annual Tour of Artists is being held Saturday and Sunday in galleries throughout the downtown area. This free event kicks off Saturday at 10 a.m. Artists will be on hand to give demonstrations and discuss their work.
