Fayetteville, N.C. — A Hope Mills woman was found dead after a fire at her Rustic Trail house early Monday, according to a spokeswoman for the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.
Spokeswoman Debbie Tanna said the woman possibly dropped a cigarette, sparking the fire around 4 a.m. The cause of her death hasn't been determined, and her name hasn't been released.
Authorities said the woman had terminal cancer, and emergency responders were called out to her home earlier Monday when she suffered breathing problems.
