HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. — Authorities in Holly Springs are offering a reward for information in the death of an Apex man.

Authorities say that Darin Greene, 49, was visiting a friend at 1313 New Hill Road on the night of March 23, 2014 when someone shot him and wounded another man just before midnight.

Greene died, and the other man, Harold Michael Evans, 65, was treated for his injuries at a local hospital and released.

"I still can't wrap my mind around him being gone," said Anthony Greene, Darin's older brother. "We are a close knit family and my brother Darin was an endearing guy."

Investigators believe robbery was the motive and that two or more people might have been involved in the shooting.

The crime does not appear to be random, authorities have said, noting that the Evans' house sits back from the road.

Police Chief John Herring said officers responded to the home more than a dozen times over the past three years for domestic disputes, larcenies and tenant-landlord disagreements and other matters.

"We just can't imagine anyone wanting to hurt hom to this point, to this extreme," said Greene's niece, Yolanda Greene. "So, if anyone knows anything, just please tell authorities."

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the 1-866-439-2683.
