RALEIGH, N.C. — A Wake County man was being held Tuesday under a $1 million bond in a rape case.

Louis Joseph Popielarcheck, 19, of 5317 Stableview Court in Holly Springs, is charged with two counts of second-degree forcible rape and four counts of second-degree forcible sex offense.

Arrest warrants allege that Popielarcheck attacked a person on Oct. 12 and Oct. 13 "who was at the time physically helpless" and engaged in sex acts against the person's will.

A prosecutor said during a Tuesday afternoon court appearance that a woman who has consumed a lot of alcohol passed out at a friend's home, and Popielarcheck went to check on her. When he was gone for a while, others at the home learned he had performed a sex act on her and sexually assaulted her, the prosecutor said.

If Popielarcheck posts bond, he is ordered be under house arrest electronic monitoring and not to have any contact with the woman.
