Hit-and-run injures 65-year-old woman

Authorities were searching for a silver car that struck a 65-year-old woman walking to work at a Hardees in Hillsborough early Sunday.

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — Authorities were searching for a car that struck a 65-year-old woman walking to work at a Hardees in Hillsborough early Sunday.

The car hit Francis Groom at Old N.C. Highway 10 and N.C. Highway 86, near Interstate 85, shortly before 4 a.m., state troopers said. The wreck broke Groom's leg.

A silver car with a black vinyl top drove off from the scene, troopers said. Investigators did not have any suspects.
