RALEIGH, N.C. — A North Carolina Highway Patrol spokesman who told WRAL News that the patrol's Computer Aided Dispatch system was offline Sunday night was incorrect.

Sgt. Michael Baker clarified the report on Monday morning, saying that, while the patrol had a scheduled maintenance window Sunday night, they never lost any communication with their troopers.

Troopers had to rely on physical paperwork rather than their online system while the North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts performed system maintenance.

Based on the incorrect information, WRAL News reported that a statewide outage of CAD system left the department unable to communicate with troopers in the field.
