— A man who was living in a stolen minivan led authorities on a high-speed chase in Wake and Chatham counties Sunday morning, authorities said.

State troopers joined Raleigh police shortly before 10 a.m. in the pursuit of a Chrysler minivan that had been reported as stolen, said Patty McQuillan, a spokeswoman for the state Highway Patrol.

She said the chase went from Interstate 440 to Blue Ridge Road, along Duraleigh, Millbrook, Leadmine roads and Glenwood Avenue, then back onto I-440. The chase then went along U.S. Highway 1 and ended on U.S. Highway 64 at 2 Pond Lane, just inside Wake County.

A trooper tapped the van's back bumper to make it spin around and stop, McQuillan said. The driver – identified as Stephen Wallace, 51 – was taken into custody.

In addition to stealing the van, Wallace was wanted on other outstanding felony warrants from Raleigh police, McQuillan said.

He had been living out of the van in Raleigh.
