Fort Bragg Harley Davidson paid tribute this week to a loyal rider, Jamie Otts, who died five months ago in a motorcycle accident on Roslin Farm Road.

"My husband's motorcycle hit some loose gravel, and he lost control," said Crystal Otts. "He hit a ditch culvert and then it threw him about 200 feet in the air ... he died right there."

Sgt. First Class Jamie Otts was a Special Forces soldier who spent 18 years in the army. His wife said he loved to ride Harley Davidson bikes, so she learned how to ride because of him.

Their oldest son, Tyler Otts, learned how to ride, too. His newest motorcycle is a living memory of his father’s passing. Tyler Otts has decals on the side of his bike meaning "slain warrior" and has incorporated pieces of his dad's old bike into his own.

Last week Fort Bragg Harley Davidson dedicated special parking spaces for veterans. These signs have been popping up not only in Fayetteville, but all around the state. A parking space dedicated to Jamie was among them.

Ricky Murillo helped make that happen. Every parking space has a code for phones to scan and learn more about the veteran to whom the space is dedicated.

Murillo said each unique space has a gold plate with the veteran's name and date of birth. On the top left-hand side there is a QR Code. When scanned, a biography of the veteran will pop up.

"For Ricky to do things like this for me it means a world for me and the kids," Crystal Otts said.

Crystal Otts rode her motorcycle to the dedication ceremony of her husband’s parking spot; it was the first time she was back on her bike since his death in February.
