EUREKA SPRINGS, N.C. — Cumberland County sheriff's deputies are searching a gunman and his getaway driver who robbed a Eureka Springs convenience store Thursday.

Investigators say the man entered the store at 1571 McArthur Road and asked the clerk for gasoline shortly after 2 a.m. He handed the clerk a $20 bill, and she gave him change.

The man lingered in the store, and then pulled out a semi-automatic handgun from his pocket and pointed it in the clerk's face.

An accomplice waiting in a Nissan Sentra helped him flee the scene.

Deputies described the robber as a black man with a medium complexion. He stands 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs approximately 140 to 150 pounds. He has a close cut hair style and a slight beard with a goatee.

He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap and a button-down khaki shirt with patchy designs, long sleeves with corporal stripes down sleeves and black shirt underneath. He wore black Air Jordan tennis shoes with the number three on the heels.

He has identifying tattoos, including one on the left side of his neck. A series of tattoos covers his left arm: the Grim Reaper on his forearm, several tattoos on his hand, and a set of dice on the left side of his hand, with flames coming up from the knuckles.

Investigators warned that the robber should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information about him is urged to contact the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at 910-323-1500.
