— A North Carolina Army National Guard soldier died in a single-car accident in Greensboro Saturday morning, police said.

Sgt. James Allen Lynch, 29, of Maiden, was en route to a scheduled drill at the time of the accident, authorities said.

Lynch was assigned to E Company, 1st Battalion / 130th Aviation Regiment in Morrisville as an ammunition supply section chief. He joined the unit in May 2006 after serving almost six years on active duty with the Marine Corps, including a tour of duty in the Middle East.

He is survived by his mother, daughter and fiancé. Funeral arrangements are pending.

He was only 29 so his daughter must be young - so sad she won't know her dad.

I worry everytime my son has drill. His unit too is in Morrisville, and while it's only 1.5 hours away, they leave so tired sometimes, it's hard to stay awake.
Praying for SGT Lynch's family. Hooah.

May God Bless Him & Welcome Him!

    A Soldiers Prayer

When I am called to serve, Dear Lord,
    Wherever war may be,
Give me courage to fight the battles,
My country may ask of me.
    Grace me with Your presence,
And know that I love You,
While I fight the enemy, My country needs me to.

Help me protect my comrades, As You expect me to, And keep me in Your loving hands, While I do what I must do. I want to do my duty, And to give the best in me, To do what I've been called to do, And protect our liberty.

And if, according to Your will, I must give up my life, Please bless with Your protecting hand, My children and my wife.
