A Goldsboro police officer shot at a person overnight who was trying to run over multiple victims at an apartment complex.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A Goldsboro police officer shot at a person overnight who was trying to run over multiple victims at an apartment complex.

On Saturday around 9:30 p.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to apartment buildings at 100 Day Circle.

Police said a driver was attempting to strike several people and several cars with their own vehicle. One person was struck by the car and transported to Wayne UNC Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, a Goldsboro officer fired a gun at the car to try to stop the driver from injuring anyone else. The suspect's car was damaged from the bullet, but the suspect was not shot.

The officers were not injured in the incident. No names were released.

The shooting is under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division the Goldsboro Police Department. Police said criminal charges are pending.
