Editor's Note: Chad Calloway was acquitted of all charges on March 9, 2015, following a jury trial.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A former Goldsboro police officer faces charges of statutory rape and indecent liberties with a minor, and those allegations have cost him his job.

Chad Calloway, of 205 Graces Farm Road in LaGrange, was fired from the force in January, and he was indicted and arrested Monday, following an SBI investigation.

The offenses date back to 1999.

Calloway worked for the Goldsboro Police Department for 18 years.

If he's found guilty, give him a long prison sentence.

He is a disgrace to all officers. He should have been fired and thrown in jail and throw the keys away.

Any one of us serfs would have our picture shown; you can believe that.

Agreed. There's got to be one on public file if he was a police officer for 18 years.

Why does no photograph of the alleged perpetrator accompany the article?
