Goldsboro man held on $1.1 million bond for drug charges

Posted April 20, 2012

— A Goldsboro man was held on a $1.1 million secured bond on multiple drug charges involving methamphetamine, opium and marijuana.

Jonathan Lee Wiggs, 31, of 548 Ebenezer Church Road, was arrested Thursday and held in the Wayne County jail. He was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine precursor, second level trafficking opium and possession of marijuana up to ½ an ounce.

Wayne County authorities said they were trying to serve an arrest warrant on Wiggs on Monday when they came across an inactive methamphetamine lab, prompting them to get a search warrant for his property.

The Goldsboro/Wayne County Interagency Drug Task Force, sheriff's office investigators, the State Bureau of Investigation and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives worked on the case.

Comparing this to Zimmerman is ludicrous.

UMM what? They are BOTH INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. WOW you scare me. NEVER EVER run for public office.

Innocent until proven guilty true, but courts and law enforcement look at their prior records and that makes up a huge factor in the amount of bond. This low life Goldsboro man obviously has quite a long record, hence the 1.1 Mil Bond.

Who is the victim in drug dealing? LOL better question is why do you liberals need laws to tell you not to do drugs. I know not to do meth without a law. What other laws can teh gov make to help you protect you from yourself?

Comparing this to Zimmerman is ludicrous. Zimmerman did not go out that night with the intent of committing a crime, and is still waiting to be proven he did. This guy obviously lived his live all about drugs and crime, and probably will never change.

Zimmerman's bond is set at 150k while this guy is at 1.1 million....THAT is what I meant. Not the "crimes", there is no comparison. I do feel the bonds are fair though. This guy does NOT need to be back on the street.

There is no comparing the bails for this individual & George Zimmerman as people have been trying to do all day. Apples & oranges. This man was alledgedly (& probably since evidence of a meth lab is hard to conceal) a dealer/ manufacturer of illegal drugs that place multiple entire communities/ counties/ young people at risk in many ways, as well as first responders, who are frequently accidently exposed to the health-destroying hazardous chemicals that remain on the scene. (Hence why even the ATF has to respond to these nightmares). He is also no doubt a high risk of absconding on bail & recividism.
