Goldsboro man charged with kidnapping, raping woman

Police arrested a 31-year-old Goldsboro man Friday and charged him with kidnapping and raping a 28-year-old woman.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Police arrested a 31-year-old Goldsboro man Friday and charged him with kidnapping and raping a 28-year-old woman.

Earl Thomas McLean Jr., of 305 Workman St., is accusing of going to a local baking company, kidnapping an employee as she got off work and then taking her to her home, where he sexually assaulted her, police said.

McLean and the woman knew each other, police said. She was treated at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Officers arrested McLean at the woman's home and charged him with first-degree kidnapping and first-degree rape. He was being held in the Wake County jail under a $1.2 million secured bond pending his first court appearance at 1:30 p.m. Monday.
