— The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert Tuesday for a missing Garner woman who authorities believe might be headed to New Orleans.

Bianca Rena Adams, 20, who is believed to be cognitively impaired, was last seen at 103 Woodgate Drive. She is a black woman, who stands 5 feet 7 inches and weighs about 155 pounds, with black, shoulder-length hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the Wake County Sheriff's Office at 919-856-6911.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.

well... maybe its you.... call the cops and be like "I looked in a mirror and saw the black, average height, average weight, average hair...etc. woman that you think is in new orleans!"

While I may not be 20... she fits my description. And we are supposed to do what exactly with these generic physical characteristics? ...just wondering.

27615... agreed. The only people that would actually use these alerts are the people that would be looking for them anyway

    Clueless ALERT: Seek help!

But if you know of the alert, and soon after see something that isn't quite right, most folks would then call. If an elderly person disappears from a nursing home, and you see an elderly person walking down the side of a road in the vicinity, hopefully you WILL make that call. Better safe than sorry. Too bad some have no compassion for others and would only call authorities if they were pestering their existence.

27615... agreed. The only people that would actually use these alerts are the people that would be looking for them anyway... the family and the authorities. The ONLY way I would call in to report seeing one of these is if they were aimlessly wandering around my property. And they would have to be there for a while. AND, I wouldn't have called because of a Silver Alert. It would be because they were pestering my existence. These Silver Alerts are almost becoming like SPAM.

well no picture but I'm sure there can't be too many 20 year old females in Garner...right?

Can I call and report somebody because they "might" be cognitively impaired. There are two many of these alerts and they don't help. Friends and family would be able to notice these people but even if I saw a picture in this story I wouldn't recognize the person if I saw them.
