Garner man sentenced to prison on child porn charges
A Garner man has been sentenced to more than 15 years in prison for distributing child pornography, authorities said Monday.
Posted — UpdatedMatthew Kenneth Popke, 27, was sentenced last Thursday to 188 months in federal prison, followed by a life term on supervised release. He also was ordered to register as a sex offender.
Popke pleaded guilty last August to distribution of child pornography.
An undercover investigation tracking the exchange of explicit photos on peer-to-peer computer networks traced some material to Popke's computer, authorities said. A search of his computer turned up more than 133,000 images of child pornography.
