Garner firefighter arrested on weapons charge

Wake County sheriff's investigators have charged a Garner firefighter with one count of possession of a weapon of mass destruction.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Wake County sheriff's investigators have charged a Garner firefighter with one count of possession of a weapon of mass destruction.

Jason Bellissimo, 36, of Raleigh, was arrested Tuesday on the charge. Details of the arrest weren't immediately available.

Garner Fire and Rescue Chief Matthew Poole said Wednesday that Bellissimo is on administrative duty while the fire department conducts an internal investigation.

Bellissimo has been with the fire department since October 2010. According to the department's website, he is a lieutenant with Station 4.
