An 18-year-old died early Wednesday after a shooting in Fuquay-Varina, authorities said.

<b>FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C.</b> — An 18-year-old died early Wednesday after a shooting in Fuquay-Varina, authorities said.

Deonta Lamont Ellerbee was found shot at 450 Caley Drive at about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, and he died at WakeMed in Raleigh, authorities said.

Harnett County Sheriff's Office investigators have identified a suspect in the case, but charges haven't yet been filed.

Authorities said Ellerbee and the suspect knew each other and that the suspect has claimed self-defense in the shooting, which remains under investigation.

No other details of the case have been released.
