Friday to stay dry and pleasant; wet Saturday ahead

Highs Friday will climb into the low 60s thanks to morning and midday sunshine, just a couple of degrees cooler than normal for the final week of October.

Ghouls, ghosts and goblins will enjoy temperatures between the upper 50s and low 50s during trick-or-treating hours, Gardner said.

"Temperatures will be cool, but you kind of want it a little cool, it puts you in the spirit," she said. "We could see some clouds, but we won't be dealing with any rain."

Clouds will begin to filter into the region overnight as a low pressure system approaches, and lows will dip into the low 40s ahead of a cold, wet Saturday.

Rain could arrive during the early-morning hours Saturday, and the clouds will keep temperatures in the low 50s.

"The rain is going to creep on into the western parts of the viewing area tomorrow morning, and then it will shift southward and eastward," Gardner said. "From Raleigh northward, some folks may not see any rain. But some of us could see up to 1 inch of rain."

Sunday will be bright and sunny as the system moves out, but cool weather will stay put, as highs climb into the low 50s.

Overnight lows will tumble early next week, falling into the mid-30s Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Daytime highs will climb into the 60s during much of the week.
