Fourteen injured as DATA bus, van collide

Fourteen people were injured Wednesday morning when a Durham Area Transit Authority bus and a Durham Housing Authority van collided, police said.

DURHAM, N.C. — Fourteen people were injured Wednesday morning when a Durham Area Transit Authority bus and a Durham Housing Authority van collided, police said.

The DATA bus was westbound on Pettigrew Street and the van was northbound on Blackwell Street shortly before 9:30 a.m. when the crash occurred, police said.

Paramedics took the van's driver and two other people to a nearby hospital for treatment, and 11 other people took private vehicles to the hospital, police said. None of the injuries were serious.

Both drivers were cited for running a red light, police said.
