But after a quadruple shooting at the building early Sunday morning, McGirt is reconsidering having any functions there.

“What's so unfortunate is this shooting happened over something that wasn't even serious,” he said. “I don't know, it could've been. I haven’t been informed on what the reason was but certainly at an event where you're supposed to have a good time.”

Harnett County Sheriff’s Office deputies were responding to a shots fired call at the building at about 4 a.m. when they received additional calls regarding gunshot victims – one at a nearby Burger King and three others at Central Harnett Hospital. The victims were shot at the building, deputies said.

Curtis West, 21, of Linden; Julius Atkinson, 23, of Dunn, Javier Guerrant, 20, of Dunn; and Eric Cannady, 29, were shot. Two of the men were treated and released, one was transported to WakeMed and the other was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. The sheriff's office did not say who was released or who remained hospitalized.

Investigators did not release any further information.

McGirt said the shooting started inside the building and spread outside. Now he’s reconsidering doing business with the group that has hosted parties there within the past few months.

“It could've been a situation where they could have walked away, cooler heads could have prevailed and go back to having a good time,” he said. “Because we could be looking at four body bags today.”
