<b>FORT BRAGG, N.C.</b> — A Fort Bragg soldier was killed while serving in Afghanistan, the military announced Saturday.

Sgt. 1st Class Michael A. Cathcart, 31, of Bay City, Mich., died on Friday in Kunduz Province, Afghanistan of wounds received from small arms fire while on dismounted combat operations.

Cathcart was  assigned to 3rd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, based at Fort Bragg.
