The Forsyth Parks and Recreation Department said it has thrown out a supply of wristbands bearing an image of the Confederate flag.

Sage Magness told The Winston-Salem Journal that she was visiting the Forsyth County pool over the Fourth of July weekend when she was given a Confederate flag wristband. She complained to the county.

The employee who ordered them said they thought they were patriotic and didn't understand what the "Stars and Bars" pattern symbolizes, WXII reported.

Deputy county manager Damon Sanders-Pratt said the county has other wristbands to use at the pool.
