<b>FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.</b> — A former Fayetteville Technical Community College bookstore employee was arrested and charged Monday with stealing $40,000 from the school.

Video from the bookstore’s security system and information from computers led investigators to Paul Gause, 36, who authorities said was fired from the school on June 12 after pocketing bookstore profits over the past year.

Gause, who is charged with embezzlement, was released from the Cumberland County jail on bond.

According to the school, administrators received a report of a person with a firearm on the football field. The tip was just a report, and it remains unclear if a gun was on campus, according to the school.
