Former Durham Mayor Dies

Harry Rodenhizer, who served as Durham mayor from 1979 to 1981 and again from 1991 to 1993, died Wednesday after a long battle with smoking-related illnesses, his family said. He was 79.

DURHAM, N.C. — Harry Rodenhizer, who served as Durham mayor from 1979 to 1981 and again from 1991 to 1993, died Wednesday after a long  battle with smoking-related illnesses, his family said. He was 79.

Rodenhizer's funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Duke Memorial United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends afterward at Duke Memorial's Whitford Hall.
