Food truck rodeos, Great Glow 5K and Star Wars night lead our weekend best bets

RALEIGH, N.C. — It is Mother's Day weekend, but we have some suggestions for everyone this weekend. 

First up, two food truck rodeos. Fairview Greenhouses and Garden Center in Raleigh will closed out its rodeo series on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

On Sunday, downtown Raleigh will be food truck central with its first rodeo. The event runs from noon to 5 p.m. and will include 40 trucks, including American Meltdown, Sarges and Mama Dukes. Aviator, Raleigh and Carolina brewing companies will also be on hand. In addition to vendors, the City of Raleigh Museum will also be open and hosting activities. 

Get ready to glow in the dark. The first Triangle Great Glow Run will be held Saturday night. This 5K includes a course illuminated with colorful LED lights. All proceeds go towards the Easter Seals UCP Foundation in Raleigh. This sold-out race is being held on the Dorothea Dix Hospital campus. You can still donate though to help the cause!

A great family activity this weekend. The North Carolina Symphony is presenting Disney in Concert: Magical Music from the Movies." Shows are Friday night and Saturday at 3 and 8 p.m. at Meymandi Concert Hall in Raleigh. Tickets start at $18.

Amy Schumer will play the DPAC on Friday night. Tickets start at $25. "Who's Line is it Anyway?" star Greg Proops will play Goodnight's Comedy Club in Raleigh Thursday through Sunday. Tickets are $30.

Another great family event, Saturday night is Star Wars Night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Bulls will be taking on the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs at 5:05 p.m. Fans can take photos and interact with their favorite Star Wars characters and there will be in-game features as well. And after the game, stick around for a postgame team autograph session.

Comedic legend Carol Burnett will be at the DPAC on Sunday. The night will incude audience interaction. Tickets start at $67.

Downtown Wallace will host the annual Carolina Strawberry Festival on Friday and Saturday. There will be cook-offs, concerts and more. Admission is free.

Festival Park in Fayetteville will be the site of the All American Jazz Festival on Saturday. Performers include The Jazz Crusaders, Keiko Matsui, Maysa and Marcus Johnson. Tickets are $35 in advance and $45 the day of the show.

Second Chance Pet Adoptions in Raleigh is partnering with Sound Pet Animal Rescue for a charity Bunco game on Friday night. Bunco is a no-skills game of chance played with dice and there will be a short tutorial before. There will be beer, wine, soda and prizes! Space is limited to advance registration is encouraged.
