FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cultures from around the world will be on display in Fayetteville during the city's International Folk Festival this weekend.

The festival kicked off with a concert by the Heritage Bluegrass Band outside the Arts Council Building, 301 Hay St., at 7 p.m. A juried photography competition, entitled "Unity in Our Community," also opened in the Arts Council headquarters.

The three-day festival will continue with the annual Parade of Nations on Hay Street Saturday afternoon, followed by food, shopping and entertainment at Festival Park Sunday.

The festival is entering its 30th year and has been placed among the top 20 festivals by the Southeast Tourism Council for the past three consecutive years.
