Five charged in gun shop burglary

Cumberland County investigators charged five men Friday with breaking into a local gun shop and stealing a cache of weapons, authorities said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cumberland County investigators charged five men Friday with breaking into a local gun shop and stealing a cache of weapons, authorities said.

Rodrick Odell Alston, 16, of 4920 Rosehill Road in Fayetteville, Justin Lamar Preston, 19, of 714 Amber Drive in Fayetteville, Devon Antonio King, 18, of 685 Bluestone Lane in Fayetteville, Anthony Maurice Hager Jr., 20, of 514 N. Lucas Drive on Fort Bragg, and Joshua Keith McKenzie, 17, of 701 Glacier Circle in Fayetteville, were charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods.

All five were being held Friday in the Cumberland County Detention Center under $30,000 secured bonds.

The side door of Gun Plus, at 1503 Bragg Blvd. in Spring Lake, was kicked in at about 2:30 a.m. Friday, authorities said. Burglars stole several weapons and fled when deputies arrived.

One of the suspects was arrested inside the business, and the others were identified on store security video, authorities said.
