A church in Kenly sustained heavy damage on Tuesday night when a fire tore through the 100-year-old building.

KENLY, N.C. — A church in Kenly sustained heavy damage on Tuesday night when a fire tore through the 100-year-old building.

Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church caught fire around 10:45 p.m., officials said. The church at 210 Tilghman Street was unoccupied at the time.

The pastor of the church said he was out of town at the time of the fire but expected to be back on Wednesday morning.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
