RALEIGH, N.C. — Three people got out safely after a pickup truck flipped over and hit a guard rail on Interstate 540 East Wednesday evening near U.S. Highway 401, authorities said.

One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Shortly after the wreck, the truck burst into flames.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the driver lost control due to slowing traffic, swerved to avoiding hitting the car in front of him and then overturned.

He will be cited for a moving violation, troopers said.

All three eastbound lanes of I-540 were closed for over an hour while authorities cleared the wreck.

The highway was reopened around 8:15 p.m.
