FBI hosts active shooter training at PNC Arena
The Federal Bureau of Investigation organized a training Wednesday at Raleigh's PNC Arena to educate and prepare local law enforcement for an active shooter situation.
Posted — UpdatedParticipants discussed best practices and participated in hands-on response training to different active shooter scenarios and possible improvised explosive device threats.
PNC General Manager Dave Olsen said he was happy to host the training because this type of education is necessary with the shootings that have rattled the country in the last few years.
Olsen said the more familiar law enforcement officers are with these type of situation, the better.
"With all of the things that have gone on today in the world with these shootings and clubs and going after stadiums and those types of things, it is important that the community understands we are not just sitting on our hands waiting for those things to happen," he said. "We are in front of it. The first responders are out here and practicing these scenarios, so that when, God forbid, something were to happen, they are familiar with the facility."
Some of the PNC staff also participated in Wednesday's training.
The FBI held multiple trainings across the Triangle this week.
