FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville woman has been arrested on accusations that she falsely filed claims with her insurance company, the North Carolina Department of Insurance said Tuesday.

Debra Gail Hodges, 41, of Inverness Drive, was jailed Sunday under a $4,000 bond on charges of insurance fraud, attempted insurance fraud, obtaining property by false pretense and attempting to obtain property by false pretense.

The Department of Insurance says that Hodges filed a claim in July 2011 with Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance Company for $10,000 worth of itemized damages to her home, including a chandelier that she had returned to a local store for a $648 refund.

Investigators say she also received payment from the insurance company after she reported the same chandelier missing in June 2010.
