Fayetteville soldier killed in Afghanistan

A solider from Fayetteville was among three U.S. servicemen killed in Afghanistan Saturday, the U.S. Department of Defense said.

A solider from Fayetteville was among three U.S. servicemen killed in Afghanistan Saturday, the U.S. Department of Defense said.

Capt. Ronald G. Luce Jr., 27, was a member of the Mississippi Army National Guard, and assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Jackson, Miss.He was traveling with two other guardsmen Sunday when insurgents attacked their vehicle with an improvised explosive device in Qole Gerdsar, Afghanistan.

Also killed in the attack were Sgt. 1st Class Alejandro Granado, 42, of Fairfax, Va.; and Sgt. 1st Class Severin W. Summers III, 43, of Bentonia, Miss.
