Fayetteville police on Wednesday arrested a 28-year-old man who is charged with sexually assaulting an acquaintance in January.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police on Wednesday arrested a 28-year-old man who is charged with sexually assaulting an acquaintance in January.

James Edward Daniel II is charged with three counts of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sex offense, first-degree kidnapping, felony strangulation, assault on a female and breaking and entering in connection with an incident that happened Jan. 30.

Authorities say Daniel assaulted a 24-year-old woman.

Daniel was being held in the Cumberland County jail under more than a $2 million secured bond.
