— A fire destroyed a Pizza Hut restaurant in Fayetteville around midnight Tuesday, fire officials said.

An alarm in the restaurant at 3510 Bragg Blvd. went off at 12:14, alerting firefighters to the blaze, fire officials said. No one was hurt, but the restaurant burned to the ground.

Fire officials said that employees closing the restaurant around midnight smelled smoke but didn't investigate it.

Investigators were working Wednesday to figure out what started the fire.

This store is not owned by Pizza Hut. It is a chain owned and operated by NPC International, INC. They do not operate all of the pizza huts in the area, either. That is why you will see a variety of service/quality, although as a franchise they are expected to uphold a certain quality.

    Nice!

    < sarcasm >

Blessed no one was hurt though.

Why the heck not? My first thought might be that perhaps we left the oven on, right?

They must be the same employees that I see at other local establishments who don't care, don't go the extra mile, and try to get by with the same minimalistic ("not in my job description") attitude that makes me shop elsewhere. I am so tired of this, but people wander why things don't improve for themselves.

Yep, grease gets pretty hot. I have found few Pizza Hut restaurants that I would want to eat in. For some reason that particular chain just seems to have sanitation problems. The other thing is that many of the Pizza Huts have been in the same building for years.

FVBryM, I hope you're wrong about the Smithfield PH! I have never been inside but we order takeout from them about every 3 weeks. ewwww.

There are a LOT of Pizza Hut franchises out there owned by different companies, which is why some are good and some are lousy. The two locations you brought up were both owned by a company named Rage, and were closed because the buildings hadn't been maintained properly and were infested with all sorts of vermin ... something that's VERY common with Rage Pizza Huts [just visit the PH in Smithfield, Fuquay Varina, Garner, or Durham and you'll see what I mean] ...

Must of been one hot fire, to burn down to the ground. I also don't think pizza hut qualifies as a fast food joint. More in line with Golden corral or something like that.

@10hummingbirds - yes I have! I do prefer the original on Wake Forest Road though. For some reason it just tastes better there to me, can't really explain it...but they are both great. ;-)
