Fayetteville PD wants public's help to find suspect

One man is charged and a witness is wanted for questioning in the July 5 incident.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department are asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect and another man wanted for questioning in an armed robbery of the Discount Smoke Shop on South Reilly Road.

Jeffrey Sadat Steward, 26, is facing one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with the July 5 incident.

Police said a man wearing an orange mask walked into the store shortly after 1 a.m. and displayed a handgun. The man fled after taking an undisclosed amount of cash and personal property belonging to one of the employees. Police identified Steward as the suspect after reviewing the security video.

Steward also has warrants in connection to other crimes committed along Cliffdale Road and Reilly Road. The charges are: two counts of felony breaking and entering; two counts of lacerny after breaking and entering; two counts of possession of stolen goods; two counts of obtaining property by false pretenses; one count of larceny of motor vehicle; and one count of possession of stolen motor vehicle.

He is 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds and has a dragon tattoo on his forearm.

A second man identified as a person of interest was seen inside the store on security video. Police said he was wearing a white shirt, blue hat and driving a gold-colored sport utility vehicle.
