Fayetteville officer injured during traffic stop

Officer E. Ketchum stopped a Ford Taurus at about 9 a.m. because the driver wasn't wearing a seat belt, police said. The driver pulled away as Ketchum was talking with her, and she drove over his foot.

The driver lost control of the car while trying to turn off of Grove Street on to Eastern Boulevard, and she crashed into a city Public Works Commission utility truck, police said.

Emergency crews had to extricate the utility truck driver from the vehicle, police said, but his injuries didn't appear to be serious.

After hitting the utility truck, the fleeing driver climbed out the window of her car and tried to escape on foot, but officers apprehended her, police said.

Felicia Danielle Bohannon, 26, of Rutherglen Drive in Fayetteville, was charged with resisting and obstructing a police officer, assault with a deadly weapon on a governmental official, felony hit and run, driving with a revoked license and providing false information to a law enforcement officer.

Ketchum was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center to evaluate his injuries.
