Fayetteville man sentenced for bank robberies
A federal judge on Thursday sentenced a Fayetteville man to more than nine years in prison for two bank robberies in 2011.
Posted — UpdatedRason Lamar Sparkman, 31, pleaded guilty in September to two counts of bank robbery in connection with the June 27, 2011, robbery of an RBC Centura Bank (now PNC Bank) branch on Ramsey Street and the Aug. 8, 2011, robbery of a Wachovia Bank branch on South McPherson Street.
Sparkman, who stole $5984.45 in the two crimes, was identified through Wachovia's surveillance video and by his fingerprints.
In addition to the 115-month prison term, Sparkman was also sentenced to three years of supervised probation. He must also pay $7,132.52 in restitution.
