FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville firefighters rescued a man from a burning building. The man, whose identity was not released, was five feet inside the door at 6492 St. Louis St. when crews arrived. Firefighters noted that the home had security bars on the doors and windows.

The man was transported by helicopter to the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill for treatment.

Firefighters extinguished the fire, and they said the cause did not appear to be suspicious. About 50 percent of the house was destroyed by the flames.
