FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police found a man's badly decomposed body inside a home Friday, and an autopsy determined he had been stabbed to death.

Officers found the body of Richard Jackson, 67, inside the home at 6444 Starbrook Drive shortly before 9:30 a.m. Friday. Police responded after someone reported not seeing him since Feb. 6.

Police say they believe the stabbing "was not random." They are searching for a black 2010 Nissan Sentra with a North Carolina registration plate of CDY-4430 that was missing from Jackson’s home.

Detectives have been unable to notify Jackson’s family of his death and are asking for the public's help to identify any members of his immediate family.
