Fayetteville man charged with sex offenses against child

Cumberland County sheriff's detectives arrested a 39-year-old Fayetteville man accused of having an inappropriate relationship with an 11-year-old girl.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cumberland County sheriff’s detectives arrested a 39-year-old Fayetteville man accused of having an inappropriate relationship with an 11-year-old girl.

Dale Allen Winter Jr., of 5101 Surf Scooter Drive, was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center Wednesday under a $96,000 bond.

The girl told authorities that Winter had sexual relations with her in her home from Oct. 31 through Dec. 1, according to the sheriff's department.

Winter faces three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child, two counts of first-degree statutory sex offense and two counts of disseminating obscene material to a minor.

His first court appearance was scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the detention center courtroom. No other information was released.
