Fayetteville man charged with sex crimes against a minor

Posted April 5, 2012

— Cumberland County detectives on Wednesday arrested and charged a 37-year-old Fayetteville man with sex crimes against a minor.

Authorities arrested Frank Lee Murphy, of 2238 Shaw Road, late Wednesday and charged him with statutory rape. Investigators say Murphy's 14-year-old victim claims she was sexually assaulted between Nov. 4 and Nov. 6, 2011.

Murphy, who was previously incarcerated on unrelated property crimes charges, was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center Thursday under a $50,000 secured bond.

He is scheduled to make his first court appearance at 2:30 p.m.

I've said it before and I will say it again. The death penalty needs to be expanded, to include, not only murder but also rape and any crime comitted against a child, ie, rape, abuse, neglect, pornography, etc.

Swifter more severe punishment AND a life time behind bars is the only way to deal with this kind of crime. There is no cure for this. It's been proven. Letting out a sexual preditor is like putting a pillbilly behind the pharmacy counter.

What the heck is going on??? Is it just me? It seems that EVERY single day there are more and more and more of these cases. Child porn, molestations, under age sexual assault.. it is unreal. Is it getting worse or is it just being reported more I wonder? Giving my kids freedom to grow and yet trying to protect them from these predators is becoming a full time obsession. Who do you trust??? Unreal.

Yes, they do need the death penalty...so much crime, and so much hate lately

  • DivaD Apr 5, 2012

They need to be more prisons, because lately seem like they don't mind going...
