Fayetteville man charged with rape, accused of threats

A Fayetteville man was jailed Monday on more than a dozen charges, including first-degree rape, after he allegedly burglarized the home of his victim and strangled her.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville man was jailed Monday on more than a dozen charges, including first-degree rape, after he allegedly burglarized the home of his victim and strangled her.

William Yates, 34, of 112 Brookwood Ave., also faces two counts of first-degree sexual offense and one count each of first-degree kidnapping, first-degree burglary, assault by strangulation, assault on a female and assault with a deadly weapon.

Arrest warrants allege that Yates broke into the woman’s home through a window, attacked her and threatened her with a knife.

Yates was jailed without bond Tuesday morning.
