Fayetteville man charged in Hope Mills slaying

Fayetteville, N.C. — Cumberland County deputies arrested a Fayetteville man Tuesday in connection with a November homicide in Hope Mills.
James Michael Van Dorn, 31, of 5566 Robmont Drive, was charged with murder and was being held without bond in the Cumberland County jail.
Christopher Jackson, 26, was found dead on Nov. 22 in a home in the 4100 block of Hattie Grey Avenue in Hope Mills.
Investigators determined that Van Dorn struck Jackson on his head and slit his throat, authorities said.
No information was released on a motive for the slaying, what evidence connected Van Dorn to the crime and why Jackson, who lived in Fayetteville, was killed in Hope Mills.
