Fayetteville man charged in fatal shooting

A Fayetteville man was arrested Sunday after police said he shot two brothers, killing one. David Lee Hopkins, 25, 111 Bartow Dr., was charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville man was arrested Sunday after police said he shot two brothers, killing one.

David Lee Hopkins III, 25, of 111 Bartow Dr., was charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill.

Officers responding to a shot-fired call around 5 p.m. Saturday found brothers Deshawn and Delmar Francis had been shot in the area of Tokay and Meadowsweet drives. Both were transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, and Delmar later died.

No other information was released.
