Fayetteville Man Arrested for Child Pornography

Posted July 23, 2007

— Cumberland County sheriff's deputies arrested a Fayetteville man after finding nearly 200 pornographic images, many involving children, on his home computer.

The sheriff's office charged Michael Ray Esquivel, 37, of 205 Jasmine Drive, with a total of 18 counts of second- and third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Sheriff's deputies sent the photographs to the Child Victim Identification Program run by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The CVID confirmed that two of the photos were of previously identified victims of sexual abuse.

Esquivel is being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center on a $60,000 secured bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for tomorrow.

I am thankful he is locked up. I hope he stays that way and even more incapacitated. As for the rest of you who are worried about "big brother" and what is on your computer- you have issues of your own.

I have no doubt that there are triggers that bring people up on radars when they search online for certain things. Likewise, I have no doubt that "big brother" is watching and keeping tabs on certain things. Some argue invasion of privacy. I say, track all these low lifes down and get rid of them.

It takes a sick mind to get your jollies by looking at kids in that way.

"Big Brother" -- "Not sure what satisfaction a grown man gets from looking at dirty pics of children"

There is a picture of an 18yo on line in a sexual pose blowing out her 18 candles... that's legal.

There is a picture of a 17 year old in a sexual pose as she fixes up her house for her birthday party tomorrow...that's illegal. That's child pornography.

So there is a fine legal line. The next day a pix is of a 16yo, then a 15yo, then a 12yo and finally someone is drooling over a 3yo. Does it go that way, or is there someone that perverts the natural adoration of infants we all have into some sexual feeling. There is the sicko part.

I don't understand the perversion, but we live in a day of perversion turned into conversion. Same sex marriage & open homosexually in the army were major points in a presidential debate last night! The 18 age limit is arbitrary. Where there are confused limits, there will be confusion.

I don’t believe in internet privacy. Keep it open and free.

history and man-kind has been plagued by people like this. Too many people are evil. It has always been that way. It will never change on earth. Man takes the advantage when he can, where he can. It really is a total shame. I hope this prevented something really bad from happening.....

I'm glad he got caught, but we should all worry about Big Brother in our personal lives, don't you think? He would be bored checking up on my web life.

  • The DA Jul 24, 2007

I'm glad he was caught, but am concerned about my computer privacy. Big Brother has got too much time on their hands hopefully to be viewing my boring web life. All I do is chat with you folks.

I am glad they are aggressively going after these type criminals. They should lock them away for a very long time. Anyone who would do this to children are just......well I cannot say it on this forum. Let me just say I have no use for these people & neither does our society. Great Job to Law Enforcement, keep it up!
