A 22-year-old Fayetteville man was arrested Monday night and charged with engaging in a sex act with a child.

<b>FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.</b> — A 22-year-old Fayetteville man was arrested Monday night and charged with engaging in a sex act with a child.

Benjamin Halstead, of the 500 block of Palindrome Court, faces charges of first-degree sex offense and taking indecent liberties with a minor. Authorities did not release the child's age.

Halstead was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $55,000 secured bond. He was expected to a make a first court appearance at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Detention Center Courtroom.
