Siler City crash
SILER CITY, N.C. — North Carolina State troopers called it a Memorial Day miracle that a family of four escaped injury when a tractor-trailer plowed into their car.

The family was headed to Fort Bragg late Saturday on U.S. Highway 421 when they hit a deer near Siler City, troopers said.

They got out of their disabled car, leaving it in the middle of the road, and minutes later a truck plowed into the vehicle. Troopers said the truck driver did not see the car because its lights were off.

No one was hurt in the crash, but the family's dog, left inside their car, died.
