Ex-Teacher Pleads Guilty to Student Sex Charges
A former teacher and coach at South Johnston High School has pleaded guilty to having sex with a student, authorities said.
Posted — UpdatedCornelius Lamont White, 33, of Raleigh, pleaded guilty to two counts of having a sexual act with a student. He was arrested in March on seven counts each of sex offense with a student and abduction of a child.
The incidents involved a 17-year-old student and occurred between last September and February, authorities said.
White was sentenced to 10 to 12 months in jail, which was suspended to 60 days behind bars. He was given credit for 44 days he has already spent in jail.
He also was placed on supervised probation for two years and was ordered to register as a sex offender.
