ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A former Rocky Mount High School teacher was found not guilty Tuesday of charges she had sex with a student.

Kelly Bartz, 40, of Lafayette Avenue in Rocky Mount, was charged with sexual activity with a student by a teacher. The charge stems from an incident that was alleged to have occurred on June 20, 2008, with a boy who was 17 at the time, police said.

Bartz resigned as an English teacher at Rocky Mount High on June 30, according to a spokeswoman for Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools. She had worked for the district since 1997.
